Railroad crossing replaced
The Lake Park street department today reopened Market Street after it was closed for over a week to replace the railroad crossing. The rough crossing had been covered with gravel since last fall and a few weeks ago, crews began tearing out the rail and ties from Lake Park to Spirit Lake. Workers with Diamond Concrete from Spirit Lake began replacing the roadway, pouring the concrete for the new road surface last weekend. Today, the new roadway opened to traffic and for the first time since 1882, people entering Lake Park from the south do not have to cross railroad tracks.
