Harris-Lake Park hosted their annual baseball tournament on Saturday, picking up a pair of wins in the process.
The Wolves opened with a dramatic victory over Newell-Fonda. Nathan Kyle drove a ball beyond the fences for a walkoff home run, his third blast of the season, to give H-LP an 8-7 win. The senior finished with three hits, four RBI and two runs scored. Tanner Hiveley also collected three hits and finished with three runs drive in. Connor Gunderson earned the win pitching the final two innings in relief of Eli Ihnen.
Harris-Lake Park then won the tournament championship with a lopsided 15-0 blowout of Sibley-Ocheyedan in four innings. Ryan Mann went 3-for-4 with two extra base hits, a run scored and one batted in. Ihnen drove in three runs on two extra base hits and also scored one more. Gunderson again got the win, limiting the Generals to just one hit by senior Grant Greenfield.
Sibley-Ocheyedan had advanced to the title game by defeating Laurens-Marathon, 10-9, courtesy of three late runs in the sixth inning. In the consolation game, Newell-Fonda topped Laurens-Marathon by an 8-5 margin.
Prior to the tournament beginning Sibley-Ocheyedan and Harris-Lake Park completed a rain-delayed game from the opening week of the season. The Wolves, who led 4-1 when Mother Nature stepped in during the fifth inning, lit up the scoreboard to eventually take a 15-2 win.
Connor Gunderson ended the game with three hits and four RBI, while Colin Brons, the game's original starting pitcher got the win on the hill.
Tyler O'Connor took the loss for the Generals, who are 4-12 overall and host West Lyon on Monday.
H-LP improves to 10-6 this season.
