Wolves split games against CCE, Ihnen nets 1,000th point

The Mavericks of Clay Central-Everly came to Lake Park last night for a Cornbelt Conference matchup against the Wolves.
Girls: CC-E 44, H-LP 37
In a preview of the Class 1A regionals in eight days, Clay Central-Everly won at Harris-Lake Park, 44-37, in a Cornbelt Conference showdown.
Emily Jobst set the tone for CC-E with 16 points. The win boosts the Mavericks to 4-7 in the conference. H-LP's top scorer was Noreen Morrow with thirteen points. The Lady Wolves have lost seven straight games and sit at an even 5-5 in conference.
They travel to rival Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire on Friday, which can be heard on Q102.
Boys: H-LP 66, CC-E 38
History was made in Lake Park on Tuesday. Eli Ihnen scored 18 points in a resounding 66-38 HLP victory over Clay Central-Everly, reaching 1,000 points for his career. The junior becomes the fastest to that mark in Wolves history. He was one of three players in double-figures for Harris-Lake Park.
CC-E's Jared Schoelerman scored a team-high 14 points. The Mavericks fall to 4-7 in the Cornbelt.
H-LP, the sixth-rated team in Class 1A, will put its 18-0 record on the line Friday at Ruthven-Ayrshire/Graettinger-Terril, a matchup that will air on Q102.
