Boys basketball: H-LP 40, Newell-Fonda 34

Harris-Lake Park built a 16-point lead in the second half of Tuesday's Class 1A District Semifinal with Newell-Fonda, only to see it nearly evaporate before the Wolves hung on for a 40-34 home win. The Mustangs used a 7-0 run in the fourth to claw back in, however, H-LP answered with clutch free throws by Brady Nissen.

Local Habitat for Humanity chapter searching for host family in Dickinson County

The Northwest Iowa Chapter of Habitat for Humanity is looking for a partner family in Dickinson county for a build to be held this year. They're hoping to select the family yet later this month, as groundbreaking can't take place until that's done.

The Harris-Lake Park boys' basketball team continues to roll, advancing to the semifinals of the Class 1A, District 5 tournament with a 64-39 victory over Ruthven-Ayrshire/Graettinger-Terril Thursday night.

CC-E ends lady wolves' basketball season

Playing with a depleted roster due to injuries, Harris-Lake Park struggled to find the basket in their Class 1A Regional opener Thursday. As a result, rival Clay Central-Everly tallied its second road win over the Wolves in the last ten days, winning 35-21 to advance to the second round.

Wolves wrap up regular season

The Harris-Lake Park basketball teams wrapped up the regular season last night, hosting Ventura in Cornbelt Conference action.

SLP earns trip to state duals

For the second time in program history, Spirit Lake Park wrestling will be making an appearance at the state dual team championships. The eighth-ranked Indians earned a pair of dual victories in Sheldon on Tuesday to claim its spot in the Class 2A state tournament for the first time since 2006.

Fourteen northwest Iowa high school jazz choirs participated Monday in the Iowa High School Music Association State Jazz Choir festival at the Sami Bedell Center for Performing Arts.

SLP qualifies wrestlers, team for districts

In Class 2A, seventh-ranked Spirit Lake Park dominated the lower half of the weight classes en route to a meet high 209.5 points, narrowly edging out second place Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley (208.5) by one-half point on the Nighthawks home mats.

Basketball teams win at Terril

Harris-Lake Park made the cross-county trip to Terril Friday night, meeting up with the Raiders of Ruthven-Ayrshire/Graettinger-Terril in Cornbelt Conference play. The Wolves would end the night in Terril with a pair of wins, breaking a seven-game losing streak for the lady Wolves and keeping the boys' team perfect on the season.
